Hays is currently working with a well-established M&E Consultancy based in Nottinghamshire, who are actively looking for an interim Electrical Design Engineer. This firm has seen substantial growth in their fairly new M&E consultancy arm and partnered with a healthy pipeline of work, they are looking to build and develop a quality design team working internally moving forward. This is a great interim opportunity to go permanent for candidates who are interested.
Your new role
The initial projects will include residential accommodation (student accommodation, housing) and offices (£250k - £5m).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Prepare technical specifications and drawings using industry-standard software
2. Carry out design from RIBA Stage 2 to construction
3. Undertake electrical design calculations
4. Manage multiple projects and prioritise workload to meet all assigned deadlines
5. Meet with clients
6. Design electrical installations to meet British Standards
7. Develop design proposals at sketch, detailed design and production stages
8. Prepare tender documentation and reports
9. Demonstrate a passion for electrical design engineering and a willingness to learn
10. Support senior members of staff in managing client and design team relationships
What you'll need to succeed
1. Degree qualified, or suitable equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering or related subjects
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience within a building services design role
3. Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools: Dialux, Relux NBS, AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft packages
4. Experience working in a design consultancy and/or experience of working for a contractor
5. Have detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards
6. Able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on your own initiative and operate proactively
7. Good report writing skills
8. Strong work ethic
9. Flexibility to adapt to changes in projects between design and engineering management
