Senior Auiopilot and Avionics Engineer ABOUT THE ROLE: Location: Southampton, UK; on site. NOTE: No Sponsorship is to be provided to the UK. Only UK work permit holders will be considered for the role. The successful candidate will join our growing, experienced team as Senior Autopilot and Avionics Engineer, focusing their time primarily on autopilot algorithms and control systems integration. S30, our the next generation Unmanned Aerial System will be equipped with the latest technologies developed by partner companies and off the shelf products and the new team member will play a crucial role in the development of the system. Speeder Systems is part of many prestigous programs including Shell UK Startup Engine, Bluetech Mass Challenge, METIP and Sustainable Aerolab. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Integration of electrical and electronic systems into the S30 prototype including autopilot and sensors Producing ground-test, flight test and verification methods after integration. Checking flight test logs and applying changes to autopilot functions. Producing relevant documentation(design drawings, electrical diagrams) for integration. Producing the necessary documentation for certification and operation (checklists, schematics). Defining system functions, creating risk, safety and reliability analysis Defining design, production, maintenance and operational best practices for validation, traceability and quality of the work performed. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: B.S. Aeronautical, Aviation, Electronics, Mechanical, Robotics, Automotive or related Engineering departments of Universities; A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Engineering role with active involvement with autopilot/control integration and processes. Understanding of prototype stage of system development. 2 Years experince with open source autopilots and/or MATLAB Simulink control systems development. Adheres to due diligence and compliance in all aspects of work. Experience with good documentation practices Experience working with suppliers and managing suppliers. Preferably has a pilot’s license or a remote pilot’s license in the UK. Production/design/flight certification experience in aerospace Industry, unmanned systems or model aircraft. Experience with Matlab Simulink, PX4 or related autopilot/control algorithms and development.
