Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer
Location: Portsdown Technology Park, Portsmouth
Salary: Up to £70,000 depending on skills and experience
What you'll be doing:
1. Maintaining of the existing toolset that is deployed across the integration labs
2. Developing the future tools and maintaining the toolset roadmap
3. Performing post event data analysis of the recorded Combat System data
4. Organising toolset training
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
5. Software & script development experience on Windows and Linux platforms in an Object Oriented Programming Language and Database Query Language
6. Understanding of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle
Desirable:
7. Ability to grasp emergent technologies and understand how these can be applied to existing or future integration tools
8. Some knowledge of virtualisation technologies & containerisation
9. Some knowledge of how simulated environments support system integration and how they interface to the system under test
10. Understanding of data recording and/ or analysis tools such as Wireshark
Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline.
Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another equivalent professional registration with a relevant institution.

The Combat Systems Integration Services (CSIS) - Tools & Technology (T&T) team:
Within this team you will be developing and maintaining the integration, test, and analysis support infrastructure for the Naval Ships Combat Systems Maritime Integration & Support Centre, along with providing technical support to both our internal and external customers. This is an exciting opportunity for you to work on various current and future defence projects, allowing you to gain exposure to a wide range of stakeholders.
