The Henley College are hiring a motivated and ambitious Assistant Rugby Coach to support the Head Coach and Programme Manager in developing a high-performance rugby environment. This includes coaching delivery, team management and administrative support for the Girl's and Boy's Rugby programmes.,
* Support the Head Coach and Programme manager with the planning, operational delivery and review of the Performance Programmes.
* Support the Head Coach and Programme manager to build a positive team environment ensuring the students, facilities and training equipment are prepared and maintained.
* Plan, design and deliver a high standard of development focused training sessions in line with the students' needs and aspirations.
* Offer and deliver high quality technical and tactical 1-1 skill sessions with players.
* Contribute to all team meetings, including weekly team reviews and strategic planning.
* Form strong working relationships with the players, parents and key stakeholders such as academies/PDG's.
* Actively support the Head Coach and Programme Manager by mentoring students in the rugby programmes.
* Be available to travel to all fixtures home and away on matchdays (National travel included).
* Continually update the players individual development plans as agreed with the Programme Manager and wider multi-disciplinary team.
* Support the multi-disciplinary team with technical and statistical analysis of the game and be prepared to present this to individuals and groups.
* Help plan and deliver regular recruitment events for both the Girl's and Boy's performance programmes including open evenings and trials.
* Drive a minibus to support the programme's day to day operations (Training will be provided).
* To engage beyond the rugby programmes in support of The Henley College and its students.
General Responsibilities
* Comply with any rules and regulations which the College may from time to time issue, to ensure the efficient operation of its business and the welfare and interest of its employees and learners.
* Work flexibly and efficiently to maintain the highest professional standards and to promote and implement the policies of the College.
* To ensure adherence to all College policies and procedures including Staff Code of Conduct, Safeguarding, Keeping Children Safe in Education and IT Policy and procedures.
* To work to the College quality standards and systems within the context of the College quality systems.
* To ensure continuous professional development (CPD) requirements as specified by the College and that may be identified during college processes, for example Developmental reviews.
* To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as are appropriate to this level of post.
* Attend parent evenings/open evenings on a rota basis
Hold a minimum of an England Rugby Coaching Award (ERCA, Level 2) or its recognised equivalent (essential)
* Hold a current driving license (essential).
* Complete minibus training (D1) within the first 6 months in post if not currently qualified (essential).
* Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, students and key stakeholders (essential).
* Experience of working within performance sport environments or academies with aspirational players (desirable).
* An appreciation for talent identification and long-term talent development (desirable).
* An understanding & experiences of different coaching methods (desirable).
* Have a desire to learn, grow and develop with an openness to change and be stretched (essential).
* First aid at work qualification (desirable).
* Excellent communication skills with people of all levels as well as interpersonal skills & able to problem solve with/between students.
* Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to deal well with pressure and multi - task.
Throughout the years the performance Rugby Programmes at The Henley College have gone from strength to strength and has produced several international rugby players in both the boys and girls programme. In 2024, The Henley College boys were crowned the AoC U18's Premiership Champions 2024 and AoC Sport Men's Rugby Premier League B Winners 2024. The girls programme was also crowned England Colleges Girl's 7's Winners 2024.
