About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Research Assistant who wishes to develop their data analysis skills, working as a statistical genetics analyst, within a team focused on hypertension genetics research projects. The position is jointly and independently funded by existing National Institutes of Health (NIH) research programme grant award funding from two different research groups within the USA, who we have long-established collaborations with: at the National Institute of Aging, NIH, in Baltimore; and at the University of Alabama. All research will be conducted at Queen Mary University of London.
The successful candidate will work on two projects, under the training and supervision of Dr Warren: (i) genetic analyses investigating the underlying mechanisms that lead to patients with hypertension having increased risks of Dementia; (ii) pharmacogenetic analyses investigating the genetic influences of how well patients respond to antihypertensive drugs.
About You
The successful candidate will be expected to have a relevant undergraduate degree, followed by a postgraduate MSc degree, with a personal interest in genetics. For example, the applicant may either: (i) have a degree in e.g. biomedical sciences, and be interested in developing their computational skills for genetics research; or (ii) have a degree in a computational subject such as mathematics, statistics, computing or bioinformatics, and be interested in applying their skills to the areas of cardiovascular genetics. Full training in statistical genetics will be provided.
Minimum Requirements
The candidate must have a relevant undergraduate degree and a postgraduate MSc degree.
