The Opportunity
As the General Manager of Architecture and Technology Strategy, you will lead the MYOB wide Architecture Practice, playing a central role in defining and leading tech strategy, engineering excellence and technology innovation. You will play a crucial role in planning and delivering the future of MYOB as a truly phenomenal product and Technology organisation.
Reporting into the Chief Technology Officer, as part of MYOB's Senior Leadership Team, you will work alongside your peers in technology, business and product. Together you will drive the creation of a crystal clear technology vision, strategy, and prioritised focus areas for MYOB. You will be directly responsible for leading cross-cutting architecture initiatives, establishing new capabilities, improving ways of working, approaches to architecture planning, decision making, and governance.
As a highly visible and influential technology leader, this role will be seen as a true role model for Technologists at MYOB. You will enhance and extend a vibrant engineering community, while furthering an environment of collaboration and innovation by sharing, encouraging, challenging, and celebrating success.
What experience we'd love you to bring?
1. Proven experience working with technology, business, and product leaders defining and delivering on technology strategy;
2. Be a thinker, an architect, a tinkerer, and a craftsperson;
3. Highly developed management and leadership skills in a SaaS engineering environment, with extensive experience balancing competing priorities;
4. Demonstrated leadership skills including coaching/mentoring, critical thinking, facilitation, change leadership, and team development with a focus on embracing our values;
5. SaaS architectural expertise, especially at scale in ideally both multi-tenanted and single-tenanted environments;
6. Be an expert at understanding, designing, implementing, and operating complex distributed systems;
7. Ability to influence deep technical and commercial partners on the need for fit-for-purpose architectural and engineering standards and practices;
8. Ability to attract and retain talent and to inspire the team;
9. Ability to build trusting, meaningful relationships with peers, team members, partners and suppliers;
10. Extensive experience deploying cloud-based solutions to Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services utilising best practices for scalability, resilience, and recovery;
11. Experience refactoring and/or re-architecting and scaling large, complex applications;
12. A demonstrated track record in identifying and delivering innovative technical solutions to meet strategic and tactical operational requirements;
13. Demonstrable involvement or engagement with the Architecture and/or Development community;
14. Deep understanding of practices such as Continuous Delivery, Domain Driven Design and Software Craftsmanship.
