Associate Lecturer in Adult Nursing - Online Programme
We are looking to expand our team with inspirational Associate Lecturers (ALs) who have a passion for delivering high-quality learning experiences along with substantial industry experience gained through teaching, relevant industry experience, or both.
You may be currently working in a relevant industry and/or have spent time working in a relevant industry and may be interested in combining this with your enthusiasm and ability to pass on your knowledge and experience by creating and delivering high-quality learning, teaching, and assessment.
Main Duties of the Job
We are looking for people who can teach in the following areas:

2. Health inequalities and the social determinants of health
3. Digital literacy in healthcare
4. Client engagement and solution-focused nursing
5. Healthcare policy and practice fundamentals
6. Leadership in healthcare practice
7. Supervision in healthcare settings
8. Organisational change and innovation
9. Interpreting evidence-based practice
You will be asked to write and facilitate modules for postgraduate students in an asynchronous online format and will also contribute to the continuous improvement of learning activities and assessments. Dissertation supervision may also be part of your role.

To be responsible for the teaching delivery of specifically identified subjects and topics relating to a defined area of work and associated assessment and administration. To contribute positively to the student experience.
Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Learning: Design and deliver high-quality and challenging learning experiences that equip students with the skills and knowledge required by employers.
2. Teach specifically identified subjects and topics related to a defined area of work.
3. Provide effective and efficient teaching to approved courses through lecture, seminar, or tutorial modes of delivery.
4. Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to students by setting and marking coursework, assignments, and examinations.
5. Contribute to the development of resource material.
6. Ensure that appropriate learning materials are prepared in advance of delivery and assignments are undertaken by students in a timely manner.
Student Support
1. Develop a sense of purpose and harmonious working within assigned student groups.
2. Provide appropriate academic, technical, and pastoral care by supporting the work of individual students and referring them where appropriate to relevant support staff.
3. Act, when required, as tutor to a group of students, providing effective academic, technical, and pastoral care.
Teamwork and Communication
1. Work with colleagues in developing the provision within the faculty.
2. Work within a team to promote the development of curriculum practices of benefit to students and the University.
3. Participate in appropriate quality assurance procedures of the faculty.
4. Make a positive contribution to the overall development of the department and faculty.
5. Ensure the implementation of all University policies including those relevant to teaching, health and safety, and quality assurance.

The course is to be delivered as part of the Online Programme with HEP, teaching, learning, assessment, and student support will take place through the University Virtual Learning Environment and according to the service level agreements between SHU and HEP.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good honours degree (i.e. UK 2.1 or 1st Class), or equivalent
* Professional qualification or experience in a relevant discipline
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Doctorate or postgraduate qualification e.g. Master and/or substantial professional experience in a relevant discipline
Other Relevant Information
* Willingness to work flexibly including some weekends and evenings, e.g., to support open days (occasional)
* Willingness to travel in the UK and overseas (occasional)
Experience
* Well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical and theoretical issues relevant from both an academic and/or professional perspective in one or more of the following aspects related to Nursing Studies, including:
* Patient care and public involvement
