We’re looking for a Senior Volunteering Community Officer to join us at the Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal and Brimham Rocks portfolio to help us to build and strengthen links with volunteers and local communities.
This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
What it's like to work here
Reporting to the Visitor Operations and Experience Manager, you'll sit within the Visitor Operations and Experience team alongside leads for visitor operations, marketing, visitor programming and visitor welcome.
You'll provide support for the volunteer managers of our 300+ volunteers across Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal and Brimham Rocks.

What you'll be doing
Working closely with the local community, you’ll provide positive, flexible and inclusive opportunities for volunteering. You’ll also be working with our property leadership teams to develop and meet our strategic objectives.
You’ll be the lead for volunteering and community engagement across the portfolio of Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal and Brimham Rocks. You’ll support our volunteer managers, helping them to build their confidence and capability, and you’ll get hands-on with day-to-day activities.
You’ll bring in changes that support the National Trust’s ambition to be a fully inclusive organisation, and you'll help to widen and deepen our existing relationships. You’ll help to make this a great place to volunteer, while also reaching out to future volunteers and community partners to discover what they need from us.
You'll also be part of the duty manager rota and will be required to undertake some weekend work. This will see you working with up to 3 other Duty Manager colleagues to take overarching responsibility for the site on some mid-week and weekend days. Your Duty Manager day could see you co-ordinating car parks, responding to first aid calls or busting queues and is shared over the year between 28 other site colleagues.

* experienced in managing volunteers
* experienced in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and working with partners
* adept at introducing volunteers to new approaches or products
* an organised person with good planning skills
* able to coach and support people, and used to managing, supervising and working alongside volunteers and community partners
* a skilled communicator
