Heidelberg Materials are looking for a Works Manager responsible for all production activities at the Purfleet Regen (GGBS) operation. The position reports directly to the Operations Manager–Regen. Specific responsibilities include: Promote and champion a safe working environment and culture at the Purfleet Works. Ensure compliance with safety legislation, IMS and company initiatives. Manage all production and quality operations related to the Purfleet Works. Ensure the plant is performing to the highest standards of reliability in order to meet the requirements of the company business plan, its overarching Sustainability Policy and all other legislative requirements. Ensure that all production and maintenance is planned in such a way as to provide full availability of finished product at all times. RESPONSIBILITY AND FUNCTIONS: Direct and regular liaison with raw material suppliers. Effective communications with personnel, sub contractors and suppliers. Management of all Production and maintenance activities carried out on site. Implementation and full management of the UK Integrated Management Systems. Preparation and submission of month end reports through to relevant personnel, or through the Entropy reporting system. Implementation and full compliance with Local Authority Operating Permits. To effectively develop staff so that they are competent to carry out their duties, and they are prepared for new technology. Ensure that all Accidents & Near hits are recorded in the correct manner and that suitable and sufficient accident investigations are undertaken. Prepare and present financial operating budgets and quarterly re-forecasts as necessary. Prepare and present capital expenditure budgets and requests for manufacturing plants and ancillary equipment. In conjunction with other REGEN Works Managers, develop and improve company strategies relating to production procedures and methods. Ensure there is adequate provisions made to enable the development and maintenance of the SAP planned preventative maintenance systems. Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with these schedules and procedures. To ensure that the production processes are fully optimised to achieve maximum efficiencies. Establish and maintain all necessary spare parts to ensure continuity of production. In line with Heidelberg spare parts policies. Co-ordinate all planned shutdowns ensuring that all maintenance activities carried out are completed, and that Major shutdowns do not overlap with other REGEN sites in the group. Ensure that the site appearance and general cleanliness standards are maintained. Ensure that risk assessments and method statements for planned work are in place. Development and improvement of existing plant and equipment.
