Coram is the UKs oldest childrens charity founded by Thomas Coram in London helping vulnerable children and young people since 1739. Today, the Coram group helps more than one million children, young people, families and professionals every year by providing access to the skills and opportunities they need to thrive.
Volunteer Independent Visitor: Could this be you?
We are looking for Independent Visitors (IV) to support children looked after by the local authority. An IV becomes a friend to a child or young person in care, they must be reliable, consistent and an independent role model who takes an interest in the childs life, their hopes and concerns.
IVs can make a real difference to a young person by befriending the child, sharing a hobby, sport or interest. They undertake activities and outings with the child or young person, sharing a one to one relationship with them, helping to build their confidence, self-esteem and increasing their life chances.
Outings may include such things as bowling, cinema, a picnic, sporting activities or days out to local attractions. They will depend on the age and interests of your child or young person.
