Our client is a high-growth consultancy SME. With a small, friendly team based in Bristol, they are looking to recruit an insightful and diligent Financial Controller who will manage the finance department and provide financial information to assist with their future growth. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the management team and will work across the business to help improve the way they operate and drive efficiencies. Bristol – City Centre (hybrid working with 2/3 days in office) Financial Controller - The Role As Financial Controller, you will play a central role in overseeing the financial processes and assisting the SLT with strategic decision-making. You will be required to get into the details while also being a confident communicator and comfortable presenting financial data. Key responsibilities include: Ability to provide sound financial and commercial management, including budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management; Developing appropriate accounting procedures and policies; Preparing the monthly accounts providing insightful variance and profitability analysis; Develop systems to improve reporting requirements; Managing and supporting members of the finance team; Managing the payroll and VAT function; Liaise with external accountants and tax advisers; Ensure all statutory financial compliance requirements are met; Assist with financial input into tender documents; Assist with ad hoc finance projects. The Successful Applicant As Financial Controller, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) who has experience working in or with fast-growing SME’s. Ideally, you will demonstrate: Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels; Experience in managing cash and preparing cash flows; Working knowledge of Xero is desirable; Strong analytical, presentation and Excel skills; Excellent communication skills; Commercial acumen; A pragmatic, self-motivated and proactive mindset.
