Our cardiac catheter labs provide key support to the East Midlands primary PCI service and for any patient requiring access this emergency intervention 24 hours a day. Cardiac Catheter Lab Trained to become highly skilled in scrub and circulating roles and act as a second operating role to the consultant or registrars on a daily basis. The unpredictable nature of the labs ensures no two days are the same. Cardiac Pre-Assessment Clinic Cardiology pre assessment clinics are held on a daily basis. Patients will be asked to attend these clinics if they are booked for routine or elective procedures. These include coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty) and some pacemakers. A pre assessment appointment helps to prepare people safely for their procedure and ensures that a patient has the necessary information to make informed choices. It also enables us to collect information that is necessary to undertake the procedure. Within your role you will be expected to take patient history and be able to carry out essential pre-operative investigations such as venepuncture and ECG's. Cardiac Short Stay Unit Cardiac Short Stay Unit is a 8 bedded day unit with recovery area - open 5 days a week - with an attached day unit area - accommodating 6 recliner chairs. We specialise in caring for patients undergoing day case elective procedures such as pace maker implants, angiograms and angioplasty, echo's, implantable loop recorders and many more.
