What you’ll do
Responsibility, as part of a team, for dealing with tax compliance matters across a range of Vodafone Business international entities including corporation and other direct tax returns, relationships with key outsourced providers, Finance Operations, Shared Services and Overseas Tax Authorities; applying efficient compliance practices and delivery of all aspects of international tax compliance. In addition the role requires preparation of tax reporting submissions in Group forecasts and statutory reporting phases, maintaining robust control over tax numbers posted in financial systems and disclosed in statutory accounts.
The Newbury-based team is primarily responsible for the Vodafone Business European footprint, however it also plays a coordinating role with tax professionals across the Vodafone Business global teams, requiring an open and personable approach to collaboration.
The role also involves working with other tax colleagues to provide ad-hoc tax advice to the business on contracting models, new product offerings and transfer pricing, along with internal structuring and external M&A transactions.
Who you are
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
1. As a member of a team, responsibility for management of the end to end compliance process for preparation and submission of direct tax and other ad-hoc returns for a part of the European footprint of the Vodafone Business group;
2. As a member of a team, responsibility for the forecast and actual tax reporting submissions; ensuring financial integrity of tax numbers reported in the statutory accounts.
3. Working closely with external advisers, FinOps and Shared Services in the delivery of a robust compliance process;
4. Maintenance of strong working relationships with key stakeholders across Legal and Commercial teams as well as tax professionals across the global Vodafone community in order to support the delivery of sound business advice across contracting, transfer pricing and other ad hoc project work;
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
5. An interest in, and awareness of, Corporation Tax principles with a view to becoming an expert as the role develops.
6. Involvement in preparing and/or reviewing corporation tax returns,
7. Experience in tax or financial reporting year end or forecasting processes – UK or international;
8. Able to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.
9. Experience of working in a complex environment across multiple teams.
