Hays are currently recruiting a Principal Engineer to be based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Engineer in the Infrastructure Division, specifically in the water sector, to be based here in Belfast.
Your new role
The Principal Engineer will be working within the Asset & Planning Solutions Practice and would be responsible for developing infrastructure design and managing construction projects under the NEC Suite of Contracts.
Main responsibilities of a Principal Engineer:
1. Lead and contribute to the delivery of engineering projects particularly throughout the design development and construction stages to required budget and deadlines.
2. Management of construction projects using the NEC suite of contracts including assessment and negotiation of contract changes.
3. Client engagement to lead and contribute to discussions on technical civil engineering solutions.
4. Oversee teams responsible for design deliverables including engineering design calculation, drawings, contract documentation.
5. Ensuring the quality of project work meets the agreed standards and specifications.
6. Be client-focused and able to develop good working relationships with clients; understand client needs and help propose best value technical solutions to meet project challenges.
7. Have a proactive commitment to Health and Safety and good knowledge of CDM requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for this role, it is essential that you have NEC4 / ECC PM Accreditation and experience in water infrastructure.
You must be educated to Degree level in Civil Engineering and hold a professional qualification, preferably a member of a recognised engineering institution CEng/IEng etc. You must be able to demonstrate and progress your project management skills, knowledge, and experience. Must have good communication skills, can work in a team environment and must be flexible with work duties.
