An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Research & Development department for a Research Governance and Quality Officer post.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have an important role to sustain a culture where researchers are supported to perform high quality research with the dignity, rights, safety and well-being of participants being protected. Working with a wide range of health care professionals within this NHS trust, other trusts and universities, the postholder will monitor selected research studies and act as the main point of contact for safety reporting into R&D to ensure patient safety, high quality data and compliance with standards and relevant legislation. The successful candidate will also work closely with Chief Investigators, their teams and clinical trials unit staff to support setup and sponsor and investigator oversight, playing a key role in ensuring the delivery of the regulatory, financial and contractual obligations of the sponsor.
The successful delivery of this important post will require an understanding of clinical trials methodology, and up to date knowledge of current regulatory requirements and standards around clinical trials.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Educated to degree level, with a degree in a relevant subject or equivalent level experience
* Monitoring training or equivalent experience
* Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge and Experience
* Good understanding of the purpose of research in the NHS
* Solid operational experience of clinical trials
* Experience of research audit and monitoring
* Good understanding of Research Governance in the NHS
* Proven experience of report writing
* Up to date knowledge and understanding of local, national and international regulatory requirements relating to research
* Line management
Skills and Abilities
* Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, and to build credibility quickly
* Evidence of problem solving skills
* Clear and effective presentation skills, both oral and written
* Good level of numeracy
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, with competent typing/keyboard skills
