Senior Mechanical Engineer
Our client, a multi-disciplinary property and construction company, are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer due to sustained growth across multiple sectors.
This role can be based in either Norwich, Nottingham or Oxford.
Our client would also be open to Mechanical Engineers operating at an intermediate level.
The role will involve providing mechanical engineering support to the practice by providing expertise in the field of mechanical engineering in the built environment and to include design and project management responsibilities.
Senior Mechanical Engineer responsibilities:
1. Ensure all projects are completed to a high technical standard, on time and on budget.
2. Carry out fee earning work, getting involved in design of schemes where appropriate and particularly where high-level technical expertise is required.
3. Complete tasks as assigned by the team leader including assisting in the formation of sound engineering, providing cost effective solutions.
4. Meet with clients to establish project brief and budget costs for client consideration.
5. Draw up detailed specifications and drawings against client’s briefs.
6. Review tenders received and prepare tender reports and recommendations.
7. Project manage site works from commencement to completion.
8. Monitor site works against specification requirements and agree contractor’s final accounts.
9. Carry out inspections of existing installations and submit condition reports.
10. Write technical reports and design presentations as well as preparation of tender drawings and specifications.
11. Develop Energy Strategies to adopt appropriate sustainable and low carbon mechanical design systems.
12. Use thermal modelling software and CAD including AutoCAD and Revit.
13. Select appropriate plant and equipment to develop mechanical plantroom configurations.
14. Detail analysis of pipework and ductwork distribution systems and co-ordination with other disciplines.
15. Complete site visits, surveys, and witness system commissioning.
16. Check and prepare fee Invoicing each month.
17. Meet annual and monthly fee targets as directed by the office partner.
Essential skills, experience, and attributes:
18. Degree/Master’s in Engineering.
19. Member of the Chartered institute of Building Services Engineers and/or The Energy Institute (or equivalents) is preferable.
20. Chartered Engineer status or approaching.
21. Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
22. Proven track record of meeting deadlines.
23. Use of IES (Mechanical) design software.
24. Use of AutoCAD and Revit.
25. Familiar with relevant legislation, codes of practice, CIBSE guides, building regulations and best practice.
