Job Title: Qualified Teacher for Special Needs School (Ages 6-19)

About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Qualified Teacher to join a dynamic team at a well-established Special Needs School catering to students aged 6-19 with a range of needs, including complex learning difficulties and challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing challenging behaviours, a compassionate approach to teaching, and the ability to tailor learning strategies to meet the individual needs of each student. Experience in a SEND setting is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, deliver, and assess lessons in a way that accommodates the individual learning styles and needs of students with special educational needs.
* Effectively manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
* Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other professionals to ensure each student’s personal, academic, and social development is supported.
* Create a nurturing, safe, and structured environment that encourages engagement and learning.
* Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to deliver a coordinated approach to student care and education.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular updates to parents and other stakeholders.
* Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring that lessons are accessible and engaging for all learners.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. - essential
* Proven experience working in a special needs setting, ideally with students aged 6-19 with challenging behaviour.
* Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and experience in managing complex and challenging behaviours in a classroom setting.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to create a positive and effective learning environment.
* A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to teaching with a commitment to promoting inclusive education.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
* Experience with or willingness to implement individualised learning programs for students with a range of special needs.
Desirable Skills:
* Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or similar behavioural management frameworks.
* Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, or other learning difficulties.
* Previous experience working with students with complex needs in a school or educational setting.
