Job description Job Title: Mechanical Fitter Location: Merseyside (WA11 9SR) Salary: Between £34720 to £38190 depending experience overtime and call-out allowances Employment Type: Temp to Perm (12-week temporary contract, leading to a permanent position) Start Date: ASAP Working Hours & Overtime: Standard Hours: Monday - Thursday (7am - 4pm), Friday (7am - 1pm) Overtime Rates: 1.5x pay outside standard hours (Mon-Fri) and Saturdays (7am - 12pm) 2x pay for late-night/weekend work Additional call-out rota (1 week in 4) with £225 retainer call-out fees Role Overview: Kingdom People are seeking experienced Fitters to join a leading industrial services provider. This role involves the maintenance, repair, and servicing of various industrial equipment. Main duties & responsibilities: You will be responsible for repairing various types of industrial equipment, including AC and DC motors, motorised gearboxes, gearboxes, pumps, fan units, generators, and other rotating machinery. The size of components can vary significantly, from a fractional horsepower fan unit to a 5-ton DC mill motor or a large vertical pump. Key responsibilities include: Diagnosing faults and identifying worn or damaged components, carrying out necessary repairs and replacements. Utilizing basic electrical testing capabilities to assess the condition of AC and DC components (advantageous). Applying sound mechanical engineering knowledge to troubleshoot and rectify issues. Working flexibly in a fast-paced, 24/7 service-oriented environment, adapting to workload demands. Participating in the call-out rota as required. Conducting site-based work where necessary, using a company vehicle (CCNSG passport advantageous). Maintaining a strong awareness of health and safety procedures, ensuring PPE compliance at all times. Working effectively both independently and as part of a team. Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications: Mechanical fitting experience or significant exposure to mechanical fitting. Proficiency in using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, and calipers, with the ability to check clearances and tolerances. Experience in repairing rotating equipment. Highly desirable to have an electrical skillset, including the ability to test live and static equipment and use electrical testing equipment.
