Sports Instructor & Learning Support Assistant - Inspiring Students Through Sports
Are you passionate about working with young people and using the power of sports to motivate and engage? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dynamic and proactive individual to work in partnership with an alternative provision that supports students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
What is an Alternative Provision and SEMH?
An alternative provision is a specialised education setting designed for students who may struggle in mainstream schools due to behavioral, emotional, or social challenges. This particular provision blends sports and physical activities with academic learning to inspire and support students in reaching their potential. Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs refer to challenges such as anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulty regulating emotions, or behavior that can impact a student's ability to engage in learning. Students with SEMH needs often benefit from additional structure, emotional support, and creative approaches to education, such as integrating sports into their curriculum.
About the Role
This role is about more than classroom support - it's an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who thrive in active and engaging environments. You'll work closely with students across the provision, helping them stay motivated, active, and interested in learning through sports and activities.
Your Responsibilities
* Support students with SEMH needs across the provision, helping them engage positively with both academic and physical activities.
* Use sports and physical education to motivate and build confidence in students, fostering teamwork and resilience.
* Assist in creating a safe and supportive environment that promotes emotional and academic growth.
* Provide general support to the teaching team, helping to manage behavior and maintain a positive atmosphere.
* Build strong, meaningful relationships with students to help them feel encouraged and valued.
What We're Looking For
* A sports background, whether through coaching, playing, or training, with a passion for using sports to inspire young people.
* Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trust with students who may display challenging behaviors.
* Interest in working with young people with SEMH needs, with a desire to make a real impact.
* A willingness to develop professionally - this role has excellent progression opportunities, including the potential to move into teaching or leading classes.
What We Offer
* Competitive pay starting at £90+ per day, paid weekly via PAYE.
* Opportunities to gain valuable experience in education working in a unique, sports-focused provision.
* Access to ongoing training and support to develop your skills further.
* A chance to make a real difference in the lives of students while building your career in education.
Requirements
