The Sustainable Material Program Lead will support the ongoing pursuit to identify, select and assess sustainable materials and chemicals within the organisation, from our products to our facilities and processes. This role involves developing and executing a comprehensive strategy that ensures compliance with environmental regulations and aligns with the organization's sustainability goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in environmental science, project management, engineering and regulatory compliance, coupled with excellent leadership and communication skills. For this role sustainable topics include, but are not limited to: · Identification and elimination of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) within the organisation. · POP – Persistent Organic Polutants · SVHC – Substances of High Concern · EPD - Environmental Product Declarations · Raw Material Passports · ECO declarations Job Description Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Where legally required or identified as practicable, develop a detailed roadmap for phasing out non sustainable materials, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable material selection into broader environmental and sustainability initiatives. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring activities comply with local, national, and international regulations. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and facilitate audits or inspections as required. Project Management: Lead project teams to implement sustainable material selection initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Utilize project management tools to track progress, manage risks, and report on outcomes to stakeholders. Research and Development: Identify and evaluate feasible alternatives to non sustainable materials and processes. Collaborate with research teams to test and validate substitute materials and technologies. Stakeholder Engagement: Work with internal stakeholders, including procurement, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment and support for non sustainable material phase-out initiatives. Communicate progress and challenges to senior leadership and other relevant parties. Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees about non sustainable material. Promote a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility across the organization. Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends and advancements in non sustainable material alternatives to enhance phase-out strategies. Implement feedback mechanisms to refine and optimize phase-out processes. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management, sustainability, or a related area, with a focus on hazardous substance management. Proven track record in leading complex projects and cross-functional teams. Knowledge of PFAS-related regulations and best practices, POP, SVHCs, REACH and RoHS Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in project management software and tools.
