Title: Lab Technician
Location: Northwick Power
Hours of Work: 42.5 hours Monday - Friday (7am start time)
The Role
Northwick Power is an industrial processor of food waste located in Chipping Campden. The plant has been designed to handle a wide range of waste feedstocks. Through a process called Anaerobic Digestion it utilises the waste as a raw material to create methane, which in turn is used to generate electricity and gas both of which are exported to the national grids and are 100% renewable.
We are currently looking for an Anaerobic Digestion Lab Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be an integral within our processing and treatment plant facilities and will be responsible for looking after the plant biology and day to day testing of the AD Plant
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
* Collaborating as part of a dedicated operations team overseeing all AD and Power Plant procedures
* Performing daily routine tests and carrying out analysis using technical instruments
* Undertaking samples from the AD treatment plant
* Recording and reporting on findings and results
* Supporting the operations staff during busy seasons
* Completion of timely, accurate paperwork
* Able to optimise biological processes to boost biogas production, ensuring ideal digester conditions across various feedstocks.
* Ensure quality controls are maintained for peak plant efficiency, and promptly report any non-conforming results.
* Perform daily sampling, testing, record-keeping, and reporting on-site. Monitor and assist in the operational management of the Anaerobic Digestion Plant in line with site protocols.
* Work closely with management and operators conducting tests on a range of materials to meet operational requirements and quality standards for final products (e.g., fertilizers, specialty gases).
* Take a proactive approach to resolving process issues.
* Ensure adherence to Health and Safety policies and Codes of Practice, including the creation and implementation of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and Standard Operating Procedures.

* Previous experience in anaerobic digestion or other process environments is desirable but not essential
* Maths ‘A’ level or Equivalent is desirable but not essential
* English ‘A’ level or Equivalent is desirable but not essential
* Physics ‘A’ Level or Equivalent is desirable but not essential
* A relevant laboratory qualification eg; Degree/HNC is advantageous is desirable not essential
