About Relation Therapeutics We are an end-to-end biotech developing transformational medicines, with technology at our core. Our ambition is to understand human biology in an unprecedented way; discovering therapies that will treat some of life's most devastating diseases. We leverage single-cell multi-omics directly from patient tissue, functional assays and machine learning to drive disease understanding, from cause to cure. We are committed to building diverse and inclusive teams. We are an equal opportunities employer and do not discriminate on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age. We strive to create an interdisciplinary workplace that cultivates innovation through collaboration, and we empower each of our team members to do their best work and develop to their highest potential. By joining Relation, you will be part of an exceptionally talented team, you’ll have extraordinary leverage to push the field of drug discovery, and you’ll help us shape our culture and strategic direction. Ultimately, your impact will be felt in patients’ lives. The opportunity Relation is offering an outstanding opportunity for a Scientist to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of experimental and computational researchers focused on drug discovery within our newly established, state-of-the-art functional genomics lab in London. Large-scale genetic studies, such as genome-wide association studies (GWAS), have uncovered thousands of variants and loci linked to complex diseases. However, gaining insight into disease mechanisms remains challenging, as most loci are located in non-coding regions of the genome with unknown functions. At Relation, we are building proprietary large-scale datasets to advance the prediction of disease-associated genes using cutting-edge functional genomics and machine learning approaches. Our work focuses on identifying the key effector genes, cells, and pathways involved in disease pathophysiology, paving the way for experimental validation of disease targets. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Scientist to play a key role in Relation’s innovative drug discovery efforts. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to executing target validation experiments, interpreting scientific data, and maintaining the lab’s operations. Your responsibilities Scientist with expertise in cell and molecular biology to execute mechanistic studies to validate screening hits and putative targets. Use cellular models to elucidate the mechanism of action of putative targets. Contribute biological data to Relations novel drug discovery projects. Interaction with internal stakeholders as required. Working as a member of the lab team to ensure efficient running of the lab, including a variety of responsibilities as required. Professionally, you have A PhD with 3-5 years additional industry experience, with demonstrable experience in assay development and target validation, including the utilisation of orthogonal approaches to test scientific hypotheses. Experience within a drug discovery setting working on Target Validation and Mechanism of Action activities. Experience with a variety of mammalian cellular models including established cell lines, patient derived primary cells and the development of 2D or 3D multicellular assays, with functional disease relevant endpoints with the aim of ensuring required reproducibility and sensitivity in those assays. Experience using multi-parameter endpoints including-but not limited to-flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, plate based fluorescent assays, soluble ligand analysis, RT-qPCR, western blotting. A proven ability to reprioritise activities and deliver results within tight timelines as projects evolve. Experience with fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) is desirable. Experience with immuno-histochemistry or immunofluorescence is desirable. Personally, you are Excellent at organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to learn quickly and work diligently under pressure. Able to communicate effectively with scientists from multiple disciplines. A highly motivated and independent, proactive attitude. Able to build effective working relationships with proven team-working skills. An inclusive attitude and inquisitive nature. Willing to operate within start-up environments, including reacting to changing priorities. Join us in this exciting role where your contributions will have a direct impact on advancing our understanding of genetics and disease risk, supporting our mission to get transformative medicines to patients. Together, we're not just doing research; we're setting new standards in the field of machine learning and genetics. The patient is waiting Relation Therapeutics is a committed equal opportunities employer.
