About Chelmsford Star:
Established in 1867, Chelmsford Star is a local and independent co-operative, operating solely within Essex. We’re not the guys you see advertising on TV. A co-op means we are run by our members for the benefit of our members. Any of them can, if they choose, have greater involvement in how our Society is run.
We generate over £100m in gross takings, predominately from our food convenience stores, but also our department stores, funeral directors, travel agencies and from a small investment property portfolio.
The Society trades from 48 businesses across Essex, from Braintree in the north to Tilbury in the south, Shoeburyness in the east to Woodford Green in the west.
