Our Bournemouth division of Laser Profiles specializes in high-performance laser cutting, tube cutting, profiling services, and sheet metal fabricating. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to assist in ensuring that we continue to provide exceptional services to our clients. Engineering Manager Role Overview: As Engineering Manager at WEC Group’s Bournemouth division, you will assist in overseeing the engineering operations of the Laser Profiles department. Reporting to the General Manager you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, ensuring the department runs efficiently, safely, and within budget, while maintaining the highest quality standards. You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence across the division. Duties of the Engineering Manager Oversee the engineering team and manage multiple projects from conception through to completion. Develop and implement engineering processes and standards to ensure quality and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product development initiatives. Utilise software tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and MATLAB for system design and analysis. Maintain existing systems and troubleshoot issues related to logic controllers and other electrical components. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting professional development within the team. Conduct regular reviews of project progress, ensuring alignment with company goals and timelines. Skills needed for the Engineering Manager Must be from a Laser Engineering / Fabrication background and used to working in a fast paced environment. Ideally we are looking for someone from an apprentice trained / time served Engineering background Team Management - managing the shop floor team effectively to deliver results. Experience with Design processes. Familiarity with programming languages for automation tasks. Knowledge of logic controllers and their applications in engineering projects. Strong background in systems engineering methodologies to enhance product development processes. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues effectively. Strong leadership capabilities, with experience managing teams in a dynamic environment.
