We hold a large part of the UK market for software in our niche with several of the ‘big 6’ UK energy suppliers as customers. The role We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join our dynamic software development team, to help deliver business value and drive continuous improvement. The candidate will bring a critical thinking & technical approach to our quality assurance efforts, helping to ensure that all products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. This role involves creation, maintenance and execution of automation tests, and collaborating with other departments to deliver world-class software solutions. You must be confident in your abilities, be willing to learn, be able to challenge yourself, the team and the company. This role is mainly office based, in Solihull. Remote work can be allowed for a maximum of 2 days a week. Qualifications and Experience The individual will come from a QA background with: 4 years of experience working in a software house, creating, maintaining and executing functional and non-functional automated tests using the Microsoft technology stack (C#, .Net Framework, SQL Server, Windows ASP.net) & Selenium Hands-on experience of REST API automation A passion to improve processes, tools, methodologies, and overall quality of the product Experience working with CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or equivalent products Excellent prioritisation and decision-making skills, with proven problem-solving expertise Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment Main responsibilities Deliver Participate in the design of user stories and associated acceptance criteria (Three Amigos) Work collaboratively as an integrated member of the team, defining and implementing the team’s automated testing strategy Use a variety of tools and languages to create maintainable and reliable automated tests at the appropriate level Execute test suites manually, when the need arises Non-functional testing to ensure quality at all levels Improve Promote best working practices and identify areas for improvement Ensure that all requests are carried out in a professional, disciplined, efficient and process-orientated manner, and promote continuous improvement Collaborate Active participation in Scrum ceremonies to foster collaboration across the business Discuss system usage with clients and users to deeply understand their usage and expectations Perform code reviews of your peers' work Run regular automation workshops and training sessions for the technology team Contribute actively to company initiatives Desirable attributes Self-motivated, proactively engages with cross-functional teams to provide advice on the best practices for using existing product functionality to meet the customer needs Able to re-appropriate existing solutions to new requirements and situations Able to work in fast-paced environment with rapidly developing opportunities Able to work both independently and in a team Strong programming skills, and an appetite to learn new languages and frameworks Benefits Central Solihull location, modern offices with great amenities and transport links.
