SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in East Grinstead (Year 2 Support) Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil in a mainstream primary school located in East Grinstead. This full-time role involves working closely with a non-verbal but highly intelligent child, helping them navigate their school day and reach their full potential. The child does not exhibit aggressive behavior but requires consistent support to aid communication, engagement, and learning. The ideal candidate will have a calm and patient approach, fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one support to a non-verbal child in a Year 2 class, ensuring they remain engaged in learning activities. Use alternative communication methods (such as PECS, Makaton, or other strategies) to support the pupil’s communication needs. Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to the child’s individual learning style. Encourage the child’s social interaction with peers and promote independence. Monitor progress and provide feedback to the teacher and SENCO. Create a nurturing, supportive learning environment that meets the child's sensory and emotional needs. About You: We are looking for candidates who are: Empathetic, patient, and skilled in working with children with communication challenges. Experienced or familiar with supporting non-verbal pupils or those with SEND (experience with ASC or speech and language needs is beneficial). Excellent communicators, capable of working closely with the teacher, SENCO, and parents. Willing to undergo training if required (knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or similar communication systems is desirable but not essential).
