An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join a new multidisciplinary service - the CAMHS Hillside In Reach Service - who support the mental health needs of the young people at the Hillside Secure Care Home, Neath.
The commissioned service, provided by the Swansea Bay UHB Child & Adolescent Mental Health Directorate, is a multi-disciplinary, psychology-led service which will work in collaboration with the Hillside management and staff to provide quality mental health support. The post holder will function as an autonomous clinical specialist within a team of professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, psychological therapy, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy, and will be embedded professionally into the wider Health Board structures.
We are particularly looking for candidates who have previous experience in forensic mental health settings, service development, and working in collaboration with partners.
The post holder will provide and contribute experience and understanding of the knowledge and skills required to undertake the role of the Specialist Nurse, and will be managerially professionally responsible to the Lead Nurse of CAMHS and Head of Nursing.
The service will be operational Monday to Friday between 09:00-17:00 throughout the year, excluding bank holidays.
The post holder will be expected to travel between the base and the Hillside care home per the requirements of the role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist nursing care, advice, guidance, and leadership, and take responsibility for a specialist nursing service using their advanced clinical knowledge and experience with a high level of skill and theoretical knowledge to:
1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidenced-based nursing care.
2. Provide expert advice and clinical practice.
3. Work autonomously and manage own workload as a lead specialist in their area.
4. Provide specialist education and training to staff.
5. Lead and manage a team of specialist nurses.
6. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical colleagues to develop services and the quality of care delivered.
7. Lead the development and planning of clinical services within the specialist field.
8. Demonstrate the Health Board's values and ensure that others demonstrate the same values.
9. Undertake clinical activities e.g. clinics, ward-based work, telephone consultations etc.
10. Undertake professional activities e.g. audit, CPD, teaching, research, and administration.

Person Specification
Experience
* Sound experience in working with children and young people presenting with complex mental health needs.
* Experience of CAMHS and/or Forensic MH.
* Experience in the relevant specialty.
* Experience of working in a multi-professional environment.
* Experience of using reflective learning to support the development of self and staff.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Mental Health) Qualification and current NMC Registration.
* Relevant Master's degree or able to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge, skills, and experience to academic level.
* Knowledge of service improvement.
* Able to undertake a literature search and critically appraise research papers.
* Knowledge of research/best evidence-based practice.
* Advanced clinical skills.
* Non-medical Prescribing (v300).
