WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a great opportunity for a Technical Specialist for HV Semiconductor Applications, to join JLR semiconductor department where you will lead the strategic design, development and selection of high-voltage semiconductors for battery electric vehicle (BEV) and propulsion systems for JLR programmes.
Within this role you will play a critical role in providing technical guidance and support to the applications team to carry out strategic plans for SiC adoption in HV inverters and power electronics semiconductors. This will include guiding semiconductor engineers by defining templated requirements and best practices for development and validation, as well as forming strong partnerships with internal team members in charge of SDV/BEV architectures, semiconductor release, commercial negotiations, electronic control unit (ECU) design, semiconductor IDMs, and fabrication partners.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with peers in Electrification and Propulsion Systems, SDV Architecture, ECU Engineering, Systems and Software Engineering, and Purchasing to develop a strategic roadmap and sourcing strategy for enterprise power distribution and HV BEV semiconductors.
2. Develop a comprehensive understanding of SiC MOSFET, IGBT, Gate Driver, MCU, and BMS semiconductor design, fabrication, product portfolio, supply chain, and technological roadmap.
3. Provide technical support to commercial and supply chain teams in developing and implementing an agile semiconductor supply chain strategy.
4. Create written specification templates for semiconductor selection, design, and manufacture within area of responsibility to help sourcing teams meet deadlines.
5. Provide technical guidance to the teams and lead discussions with semiconductor partners and IDMs to implement an enterprise-wide semiconductor selection strategy, supply chain, and future roadmap.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
1. Knowledge and experience in one or more areas including electric powertrain module design, BEV architecture specification, and high-voltage semiconductor selection or similar.
2. Strong understanding of battery and propulsion systems' semiconductor microarchitectures and protocols.
3. Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and technologies (Si, SiC, GaN) and their application in vehicle power electronics.
4. Proficient in prototype assessment, debugging, and testing.
5. Exceptional demonstrated experience leading technical projects.
6. Strong problem-solving skills.
