Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for Clinical Support Workers to join the Dragonfly Unit in supporting young people through their mental health journey. We are looking for Band 3 Clinical Support Workers that are passionate about recovery led care with a focus on promoting least restrictive practice.
The 12-bedded Dragonfly Unit is based in Carlton Colville, Lowestoft and is for age 13-17 year old young people requiring admission whilst receiving inpatient mental health treatment.
The successful candidates will need to be enthusiastic, motivated and looking forward to a new challenge providing the best care to our service users. We are looking for someone who displays compassion, empathy and is sensitive in their approach to people who may be distressed or have a challenging manner.
Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Support Worker, you will be a vital member of the team who will be enthusiastic, resilient, sensitive, and passionate about providing the best care to our service users.
Your duties will include:
1. Working closely with other Clinical Support Workers, Registered Nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure our service users are receiving the care they require.
2. Applying your creativity to make each day spent in hospital meaningful and purposeful.
3. Having a good understanding of mental health diagnoses and presentation including appropriate boundaries.
4. Undertaking therapeutic observations of all service users.
5. Supporting service users on a 1:1 basis who may require varying levels of support.
6. Undertaking physical management of violence and aggression training to manage challenging situations.
7. Taking service users on leave from the unit.
8. Working closely and in collaboration with families and carers.

Qualifications
Essential
* Care Certificate - must be achieved within first 12 weeks of employment.
* NVQ L2/3 H&SC or Diploma L2/3 in H&SC or apprenticeship L2/3 in H&SC or to commence the framework within the first 4 months of employment.
Desirable
* NVQ L2/3 in H&SC or Diploma L2/3 in H&SC or apprenticeship L2/3 in H&SC.
* VRQ L3 in mental health.
Experience
Essential
* Previous experience within the care sector.

* Mental health experience.
