Job Description Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in providing support to secondary school students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role requires a strong understanding of SEN, as well as the ability to provide 1:1 support and effectively manage challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Responsibilities Provide 1:1 support to students with SEN, including those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs Assist students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and other staff to create inclusive learning opportunities Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in line with school policies Build positive relationships with students, promoting their well-being and personal development Qualifications Previous experience working with secondary school students with SEN Knowledge and understanding of a range of SEN, particularly SEMH Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations Relevant qualifications in SEN or education (desirable) Day-to-Day Provide 1:1 support to designated students, adapting activities to meet their individual needs Collaborate with teachers and other staff to implement support strategies and interventions Monitor and report on student progress and well-being Assist with the planning and delivery of targeted interventions to support student learning and behaviour Contribute to the wider school community through participation in meetings and training
