Our client is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer with previous experience to join their team specializing in drainage design and flood risk assessments. This role offers a valuable opportunity for a candidate to further develop technical skills in sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS), flood risk management, and civil infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of engineers and environmental scientists on a range of projects, including residential, commercial, and public sector developments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conducting and assisting in producing Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) to ensure compliance with national and local planning policies.
2. Designing and developing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and stormwater management solutions.
3. Performing hydraulic modeling and drainage network analysis using software such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, and HEC-RAS.
4. Supporting the preparation of technical reports, design calculations, and detailed drawings for civil infrastructure projects.
5. Collaborating with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders to meet project requirements and deadlines.
6. Assisting in the preparation of documentation for planning applications and technical reviews.
7. Working closely with senior engineers and project managers to ensure that designs are compliant with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
1. A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
2. Experience in civil engineering with a focus on drainage and flood risk management.
3. Proficiency in industry-standard software for hydraulic modelling (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD).
4. Knowledge of current UK drainage and flood risk regulations, including the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
5. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret data and technical drawings accurately.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing technical reports and documentation.
7. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
1. Progress toward chartered status (e.g., ICE) or a willingness to achieve it.
2. Experience in SuDS, flood risk assessments, or stormwater management in urban or rural settings.
