Hummersknott Academy is a secondary school in Darlington in the North East of England. There are approximately 1,250 pupils on roll aged eleven to sixteen.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Support vulnerable students and those with additional educational and medical needs.
2. Work with small groups, delivering SEND interventions.
3. Collaborate with teachers and professionals to tailor support for learning activities.
4. Assist in planning and delivering the curriculum.
5. Contribute to the planning, preparation, maintenance, and evaluation of learning activities.
6. Promote and assist with the development of core literacy and numeracy skills.
7. Monitor, assess, report, and maintain records of students' performance.
8. Provide support and care for students throughout the day, including break and lunchtime monitoring.
9. Attend meetings about students as required.
10. Invigilate internal and external tests and examinations.
11. Accompany and supervise students on trips and visits.
12. Liaise with parents/carers and outside agencies.
13. Follow Academy policy regarding care, support, and supervision of students.
14. Maintain personal expertise to be a role model and promote high expectations.
15. Model the values, ethos, and vision of the Trust.
16. Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the Trust.
17. Maintain confidentiality regarding all records and personal data.
18. Comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding and data protection.
19. Show a duty of care to students and staff, complying with health and safety requirements.
20. Support differences and ensure all students have access to learning opportunities.
21. Maintain good relationships with colleagues and work as a team.
22. Support the role of other professionals.
23. Attend training courses relevant to the post for personal and professional development.
24. Demonstrate commitment to equal opportunities and eliminate discriminatory practices.
25. Participate in training and performance development as required.
26. Contribute to the protection of children and vulnerable adults as appropriate.
27. Promote, monitor, and maintain health, safety, and security in the workplace.
28. Carry out duties in accordance with the Trust’s Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work Policy.
29. An Enhanced Disclosure with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is required before confirming an appointment.
Minimum Requirements:
1. 5 GCSE grades 9-4 (A*-C) including maths and English or equivalent.
2. Commitment to further enhance knowledge and skills.
3. Able to follow directions and work collaboratively with line management and SLT.
4. Work 5 days per week, including 1 day release for study at Darlington College.
5. Knowledge and skills in the use of MS Word (desirable).
6. Good ICT skills and data input (e.g., MS Word, Excel).
7. Good verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and other professionals.
Working 5 days per week inclusive of 1 day release for study at Darlington College (TBC). Term time plus one week. Salary will be pro-rata to term time plus one week.
