A Children's Services Area Manager is needed to develop, coordinate, manage and put into operation the Council’s objective of managing a multi-agency partnership. The service will promote an effective partnership between statutory, voluntary and other agencies with the principal aim of defining, maintaining and delivering preventative and inclusive strategies for children’s young people and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To provide effective supervision and maintain management development needs of a number of teams of service.
2. To produce service plans which are linked to CYPS plan, monitor performance of the service and identify and achieve locally agreed targets.
3. To plan, manage and develop a full range of social care services for CYP and families.
4. To ensure that CYP and their families are fully consulted.
5. To manage and maintain systems and strategies for the delivery of cost effective care packages.
6. To undertake line management through managers in their service area ensuring that satisfactory and consistent standards are met.
7. To report to strategic leads on a regular basis on performance within their designated area.
8. To monitor and manage budgets.
9. To recruit and appoint staff as appropriate.
Qualifications:
1. Professional qualification in Social Work (Diploma in Social Work, BA/BSc/MA in Social Work, CQSW as required by Social Work England).
2. Registered with Social Work England.
3. Demonstrate continuous professional development and evidence based practice.
4. Management qualification – desirable.
Skills & Experience:
1. Previous management experience.
2. Experience of managing Change.
3. Previous experience of managing staff.
4. A strong background in financial management and commissioning.
5. Experience of enabling others to produce excellent quality of practice.
6. Experience of working with Ofsted on an improvement journey.
