The School
Serving the international community in Duisburg-Düsseldorf for over 20 years, St. George’s School combines an enriching curriculum with family orientated care. The school has grown from small beginnings into a thriving community of over 650 pupils, aged from 2-18 and representing a broad range of nationalities.
The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school, and we offer the IB Diploma in our Sixth Form.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint a qualified English Teacher to work in our well-established Secondary department.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with experience of enabling pupils to achieve their potential. We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching that will inspire our pupils.
The secondary department covers the age range 11-18 and incorporates the curricula for Key Stage 3, IGCSE and IB Diploma. Familiarity with the British education system is therefore a prerequisite. Experience of IB teaching is preferred, but not required.
English teachers work across the whole secondary department and play an important role in monitoring pupil development. They keep careful track of pupils’ progress and maintain regular dialogue with parents.
In Lower Secondary, pupils follow a broad curriculum in English which covers the full breadth of knowledge and skills encapsulated in the National Curriculum. In Upper Secondary, pupils work towards IGCSE qualifications in English Language and English Literature. English is a popular option as a first language within the IB Diploma, where we offer ‘Language and Literature’.
Familiarity with the British education system is a prerequisite. Experience of teaching the IB Diploma is highly desirable.

All applicants should hold a valid teaching qualification. We consider a degree in education (e.g. B.Ed./M.Ed./Lehramt), or postgraduate teaching certificate (e.g. PGCE) as valid. English language teaching certificates (e.g. TEFL/IELTS/CELTA) are not sufficient.
