Job Title: Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry Band: Speciality Doctor Location: Consett, Durham Working Hours: 37.5 hours Rate: Competitive, to be discussed upon application An exciting new opportunity has been made available for a Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry to join our esteemed NHS client’s dynamic team in Consett, Durham. This vacancy is available on a locum basis for the successful candidate to start immediately for a short-term contract. This vacancy offers competitive rates. What will your responsibilities be? As a Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry, you will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of organic and functional mental health problems in older people. You will provide clinical leadership within the team and ensure adherence to relevant Trust policies and processes. Your role will involve managing complex cases, providing specialist advice, and contributing to the development of mental health services for older adults. You will also engage with local and national networks to raise the profile of our centre and ensure all therapeutic approaches are evidence-based and effective. Qualifications and Experiences: Medical degree (MD or equivalent) Full GMC registration with a license to practice Experience in old age mental health services, ideally within memory clinics and functional mental health client groups Section 12 MHA approval is required Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic approaches Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) How to apply?
