How You'll Make a Difference You can make a difference by offering effective emergency social work services to four Local Authorities, outside normal working hours, where you will make sound judgements in a variety of challenging situations. You will be working within a small team of Senior Practitioners, where you will receive contacts from the public and other professionals regarding social care issues across Bristol, BANES, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, which require an urgent response. What will you be doing? You will be working within a small team of Senior Practitioners, where you will receive contacts from the public and other professionals regarding social care issues, which require an urgent response. You will be working to a 10 week rolling rota, covering nights, weekends and bank holidays. This includes 3 weeks off rota and 1 weekend on standby. You will be demonstrating your knowledge of legislation and statutory duties under the Children Act, Mental Health Act, Care Act and other relevant legislation and responding accordingly. You will be up to date with good practice in all areas of social work and this will determine your action. You will be aware of service and policy objectives and carry out action consistent with meeting those objectives. You will work jointly with other agencies and statutory bodies (e.g. Police, Health etc.) and maintain good working relationships with those agencies. You will complete all necessary forms, including maintaining a log of all calls received, indicating the action taken and ensuring that details are reported to the appropriate duty desk. What We Need From You You will hold a recognised professional Social Work qualification, e.g Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent and be registered with Social Work England. You will have relevant post-qualifying experience in either Child or adult Safeguarding issues or Mental Health, plus extensive experience of dealing with complex cases. You will be able to undertake complex risk assessments of children, families and adults and to implement risk management plans or care packages, through effective communication both verbally and in writing. You will be required to travel widely within the authority so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car or have access to appropriate means of travel. Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post. Our salaries and grading for these roles are: These posts attract a gross lump sum £3,000 ‘recruitment payment’ pro rata offered to enable Children’s Social Workers who have already successfully completed their ASYE to join our permanent workforce. This is payable upon successful completion of your probationary period (after approximately 3-6 months) and is subject to eligibility criteria. These posts are currently eligible for a market factor £3,000 ‘retention payment’ pro rata, payable in November annually to those with two years’ service with the council in Children’s Social Care in an eligible Social Work position, inclusive of any ASYE period and is subject to eligibility criteria.
