UWCSEA is looking for freelance Invigilators (IEC) to join its Dover Campus from April 2025.
Reporting to the Exams Officer, this role involves providing support to the examination process.
Main Responsibilities
* Attend compulsory training and/or refresher training sessions organised by the Exams Office
* Setting up of exam venue(s) such as laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers in accordance with Exam Boards’ rules and regulations
* Provide the Exams Officer every assistance to ensure all proper procedures, as specified by the Exam Boards and the College, for the running of public examinations are followed
* Assist candidates prior to the start of examinations by ensuring they fully understand what ‘under exam conditions’ means, advise them about items prohibited in exam venues, assist with candidate entry into venue(s), set the tone and ensure candidates enter quietly and efficiently, ensure candidates do not communicate with other candidates in any way or form once inside the exam venue, check all candidates are present and alert the IB Coordinator/Exams Officer immediately of absentees
* Make sure the correct exam question paper packets are correct before distribution
* Supervise candidates in a quiet and unobtrusive manner, respond to candidates’ queries in accordance with exam regulations and distribute paper/equipment as required
* Remain vigilant at all times during the exam(s), supervise candidates held in quarantine before or after the exams, supervise candidates leaving the examination venue, making sure they do not remove any exam question/answer scripts, equipment or stationery from the venue and that they are dismissed in an orderly and quiet manner
* Collection of exam scripts, ensure exam scripts are not left unattended and are safely delivered to the Coordinator Invigilator
* Managing approved access arrangements for students (extra time, laptop, separate invigilation, etc.), ensuring that the exam boards regulations are followed
* Undertake any other ad-hoc duties allocated by the IB Coordinator and/or the Exams Officer, where necessary
Person Specifications
* Excellent English (written and spoken), listening and interpersonal skills with a great sense of humour
* Able to work with teenagers and manage behaviour
* Good numeracy skills, meticulous and able to work with a high level of accuracy
* Ability to connect with a variety of audiences and develop and maintain relationships effectively
* Strong technological skills knowledge and familiarity with Mac platform and collaborative software
* Ability to act quickly and sensitively under pressure
* Open and constructive to accepting and receiving feedback and always willing to learn
* Able to take and follow the instructions given by the IB Coordinator/Exams Officer/Head Invigilator
* Flexible, supportive and reliable, such as reporting for duty earlier and/or to put in extra time when required and be available to fully support the running of examinations according to the schedules published by the IBO and UK examination boards (this includes School and Public Holidays).
