As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring that lessons continue smoothly in the absence of the regular class teacher. You will be responsible for supervising classes, maintaining order, and ensuring students remain focused on the work set by the absent teacher. This role requires strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage with students of all abilities and year groups.
Key Responsibilities:
* Classroom Supervision: Supervise classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring that students remain on task and complete the work provided by the regular teacher.
* Maintaining Discipline: Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a positive and productive learning environment.
* Following Lesson Plans: Ensure students follow the pre-set lesson plans, providing assistance and guidance as needed, but not actively teaching.
* Supporting the Learning Environment: Ensure that all students remain engaged, focused, and respectful, maintaining the standards and expectations of the school.
* Communication with Staff: Provide feedback to teachers and school staff on how the lesson progressed and any behavioural or learning concerns that arose during your supervision.
* Inclusive Approach: Work inclusively with students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that every student feels respected and supported.
Key Requirements:
* Experience: Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor in UK secondary schools is essential.
* Classroom Management Skills: You must be able to manage the classroom effectively, ensuring that students remain focused and behave appropriately.
* Adaptability: The ability to adapt to different subjects and year groups quickly, ensuring lessons are completed smoothly in various classrooms.
* Confidence: You will need to have the confidence to manage groups of students and take responsibility for the class in the teacher's absence.
* Team Player: You will work closely with the school’s teaching staff, support staff, and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the continued success of the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
