JOB PURPOSE The postholder will be responsible for the nutritional provisions across the Club including First Team, Academy and Women’s Team. Working closely with the Head of Medical Performance Medicine and Sports Science, develop and deliver high level, evidence-based sports nutrition strategies to support player health and optimise player performance, contributing to the maintenance and development of an elite sporting environment. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Promote the role of nutrition and educate players / staff / parents on how nutrition can enhance performance and overall health. Employ strategies to support the training and match day demands of players whilst showcasing an in-depth understanding of the scientific principles underpinning sports nutrition. Develop and implement individualised nutrition strategies for players based on individual assessments.Modify education approach to engage with First Team, Academy and Women players, ensuring they understand and implement appropriate nutrition management. Undertake regular body composition assessments using the ISAK Protocol, conduct comprehensive dietary analysis to determine each player’s nutritional status and provide bespoke interventions in collaboration with the club’s medical departments to support performance, training, and rehab goals. Source, order and maintain all nutritional products along with up to date records of all batch tested products club wide. Work collaboratively with the Head of Medical Performance alongside Wrexham AFC Performance catering team to ensure meal provisions align with the performance demands of the team, individuals and various age groups. Attend home and away matches as requested by Head of Medical Performance to ensure prescribed menus and nutrition strategies are implemented. Sharing and presenting information to the multi-disciplinary team regarding nutrition/assessment results, health, monitoring, and any other relevant issues. Ensure all players and club information is maintained accurately on the club’s medical database. About The Candidate EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED BSc in Sports Science (or related discipline). Higher degree (IOC diploma in sports nutrition or PGCert/Dip/Masters in Sports Nutrition). Practitioner registrant on Sports and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr - Full practitioner status). ISAK level 1 (or above) accreditation. Food Hygiene Certificate. Be a UKAD Clean Sport Advisor. Significant experience in the provision of nutritional support to professional athletes and coaches. Significant experience working within a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of performance nutrition support to elite athletes. Experience of analysing the demands of players nutritional needs, implement, and evaluate nutrition strategies to support findings. Understanding players training loads, positional requirements, rehabilitation, recovery, regeneration, return to play and robustness practices. Evidence of translating evidence-based nutrition information into understandable and actionable advice for players. Demonstrated understanding of the role of sports nutrition within a multi-disciplinary performance orientated medical team.
