Senior Social Media Strategist (Maternity Cover)
Social media has progressed rapidly within the marketing landscape, becoming the leading platform for search (over search engines such as Google). As a marketing agency, we need to adapt to these changes, educate our clients, and stay on top of the latest developments.
As a full-service agency, we are looking to use the research and advances in social media marketing to better inform our audience strategies and align content across all marketing channels.
The Senior Social Media Strategist role has been designed to build structure within the social media department, implementing new best practices and better analysis of target audiences, strategising our creative output.
As the Senior Social Media Strategist, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction to the social media team and clients, analysing data and activity to inform planning, and monitoring the latest platform changes, developments and AI solutions. You will be working closely with the account management, SEO and PPC teams, as well as the PR and digital content strategists, to help align content planning and strategic idea generation in response to thorough audience analysis.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Working with the social media team on building and maintaining audience profiles for their clients to inform strategies.
2. Working with the social media team on building clear strategies for content planning and delivery – adapting to each platform.
3. Staying up to date with social media platform changes and developments and training the social media and wider teams.
4. Working closely with the PR and Digital Content strategists on communicating and aligning content planning where appropriate.
5. Maintaining and researching the best social media tools to aid processes.
6. Managing social media reporting and working with surrounding teams to analyse data and inform forward strategies.
7. Working closely with the performance team to analyse performance data and adjust client strategies where appropriate.
8. Working closely with account managers to stay up to date with any changes in client businesses and focus’ that would effect research and content direction.
9. Working with surrounding teams to identify opportunities for creative campaigning.
10. Working closely with the Head of Content and Social Media to implement new processes and best practices across the team.
11. Working closely with the Head of Content and Social Media to implement training opportunities and events for the social media team.
12. Quality checking social media content plans and content creation.
13. Training and mentoring the social media team to develop social media competencies.
14. Supporting the Head of Content and Social Media with training and amending sales processes in response to advancements in social media platforms and offerings.
15. Support with content planning and creation for high tier clients where needed.
16. Monitor AI and automation developments and help the social media team adapt to new technologies and trends.
17. Monitor industry and cultural trends to inform client strategies and ensure the team are staying up to date.
Key skills / experience required:
1. Expert understanding of Social Media Marketing, content development and utilising social media campaigns.
2. Specialist understanding of Social Media platforms and developments, and experience creating social content for B2B and B2C audiences.
3. An understanding of AI and how it is used in social media marketing.
4. Analytical skills and experience to research, analyse and interpret performance data to build strategies.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear, grammatically correct and engaging posts adapted for different audiences, and platforms.
6. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships including collaborating with team members, liaising with surrounding departments and addressing challenging situations with professionalism.
7. Effective communication skills for providing training and ongoing development of the team.
8. The ability to adapt quickly to industry, marketing and algorithm / API changes – as well as ensuring the team effectively implement changes.
9. Strategic thinking skills that can identify effective and engaging angles for social posts, as well as identifying cross-departmental opportunities for aligned campaigns and strategies.
10. The ability to anticipate potential challenges and opportunities as well as effectively adapting to changing circumstances.
