About the role
Lead the strategic delivery of safe, legal, responsibly sourced, quality products for the category, always focusing on delivering for our customers and living our values, leading the team by example.
You will be responsible for
* Leading a team to ensure products, processes and suppliers are safe, legal, ethical, sustainable and meet relevant Tesco policy and audit requirements and customer expectations
* Leading a team of experts, mentoring & enabling them to achieve quality critical metrics and be the guardians of brand integrity
* Minimising cost and risk throughout the supply chain and product range, and supervising sign off of products
* Leading the review of quality feedback across the category(s), identifying and resolving risks to the brand
* Incident management (e.g. potential EPWs and recalls) and enforcement challenges in the category when raised
* Driving innovation/improvements in the field through horizon scanning and industry knowledge and mobilising the team to input and deliver these through category NPD & suppliers plans
* Leading the Quality plan to support the Category strategy
* Providing thought leadership on cross cutting projects and initiatives that drive improvement or support the business' needs
* Contributing to and/or leading change programmes in the category
* Ensuring that the team & I maintain great relationships with our suppliers, sourcing and internal/external partners
* Forecasting and leading budgets effectively, always being cost conscious
* Developing and leading a high performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best
* Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence

* Relevant product area knowledge/experience of delivering safe, legal, quality, responsibly sourced (ethics & environment) products to the customer
* Knowledge of legislation and technical standards
* Understanding of risk and risk assessment
* Understanding of end to end incident management
* Track record of leading and working in sophisticated NWTs
* Experience in crafting and driving strategy
* Experience of leading and developing a team
