Facilities Manager
Salary: £50-£60k
Location: Central Cambridge
Hours: Mon - Fri 37.5 hours a week

Reports to: Director of Operations
Our client is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to run an independent schools facility division. The Facilities Manager ensures high-quality delivery of facility-related services, including site services, grounds, security, health & safety, compliance, risk management, transport, sporting facilities, lettings, and cleaning. This role involves ensuring all services meet the requirements of the school, comply with legislation, and maintain documentation for inspection readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety:
Develop and manage Health & Safety standards and procedures.
Ensure the safety, upkeep, and maintenance of all school buildings and infrastructure.
Act as the school Fire Safety Officer.
Risk Management:
Implement and manage risk management procedures.
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Security:
Maintain secure perimeter fencing, CCTV, and access systems.
Manage out-of-hours security patrols and emergency response.
Environmental Sustainability:
Lead initiatives for environmental sustainability and compliance with relevant legislation.
Transport:
Manage transport services and maintain school vehicles.
Oversee parking and traffic management on site.
Contracts:
Manage building projects, external contracts, and contractors.
Ensure high standards in cleaning and waste management.
Budgeting and Development Planning:
Contribute to long-term estate development strategy.
Prepare and monitor the Facilities and Maintenance budget.
Maintenance and Refurbishment:
Oversee planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
Ensure high standards in building maintenance and refurbishment.
Line Management:
Manage and develop the Facilities & Maintenance Team.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Experience in Health & Safety, Risk Management, Facilities, or Estates Management.
NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent qualifications.
Practical skills in building maintenance (mechanical, carpentry, electrical).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Team management experience.
Understanding of financial management and large budget handling.
Proactive, hands-on approach with excellent customer service skills.
Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Full and clean driving licence.
Commitment to safeguarding and pastoral care of children.
Desirable:
Qualified to HND Level.
MIDAS Minibus Driving Qualification.
First Aid Qualification.
Experience in the education sector.
