Head of Finance
IFF Talent are proud to be exclusively retained on this assignment for a Head of Finance based in North Bradford. The company is a fast growth SME business which has seen circa 30% growth YOY with the opportunity to progress and develop within the company.
As Head of Finance, you will not only lead and develop the finance function but also play a critical role in shaping the broader business. This is a highly visible and hands-on leadership role that requires more than just technical ability - we're looking for someone with the personality, presence, and commercial mindset to influence, challenge, and collaborate effectively across departments.
The successful candidate will bring energy, credibility, and a proactive approach to business partnership. In addition to leading day-to-day financial operations, you will play a key role in supporting the business through its private equity lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Strategic Insight
* Lead, develop, and empower the finance team to deliver high-quality financial reporting and insight.
* Partner with the wider business to support decision-making and provide challenge where appropriate.
* Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
* Deliver insightful commentary on financial performance, trends, and risks.
* Bring financial perspective to business opportunities, risks, and growth initiatives.
* Support the business through its private equity lifecycle, investor presentations, due diligence readiness, and value tracking.
Operational & Commercial Finance
* Act as a bridge between finance and operations to evaluate costings, margins, and process efficiency.
* Develop reporting tools and models that improve visibility and accountability across the business.
* Support performance management through KPIs and business-critical metrics.
* Monitor banking covenants and support the delivery of value for PE stakeholders.
Governance, Audit & Compliance
* Manage and coordinate the year-end audit process; liaise effectively with external auditors.
* Work closely with external tax advisors to ensure compliance and optimal tax planning.
* Maintain robust financial controls and ensure full compliance with statutory obligations.
* Drive the effective use of ERP/MRP and accounting systems.
* Ensure financial systems, data, and reporting are exit-ready and can withstand investor due diligence.
Cross-Functional Leadership
* Build strong relationships across departments, becoming a trusted and influential advisor.
* Foster collaboration and alignment between finance and other functions.
* Be a key contributor to the senior leadership team and broader strategic conversations.
* Promote a commercial, forward-thinking culture throughout the organisation.
Experience & Skills Required
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
* Experience in a senior finance role ideally within a manufacturing SME with strong knowledge of stock accounting and cross border trading.
* Private equity or investor-backed business exposure is highly desirable.
* Proven success in leading audits and working with external tax and financial advisors.
* Strong knowledge of cost accounting, operational finance, and business partnering.
* Technically strong, with excellent Excel skills and experience of accounting/ERP/MRP systems.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to challenge constructively and influence at all levels of the organisation.
* Commercially astute, strategic thinker with a hands-on and proactive mindset.
