The post is for a one year student placement from September 2025- August 2026. The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit - NWROCU is a collaborative multi agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region. This is an exciting and evolving role, where you will gain first-hand experience tackling the most serious of offenders across the North West and those who exploit financial systems as part of, or on behalf of OCG’s. You will be part of a team of police officers and police staff responsible for disrupting organised crime and removing assets under criminal and civil law including the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). This role contributes to the vigorous pursuit of organised crime groups and the safeguarding and protection of vulnerable members of our communities across the UK. We are looking for individuals who are methodical, tenacious, and able to demonstrate an ability to manage the casework of a financial investigator officer providing legislative and investigative guidance and direction across the NWROCU network. Applications are invited for the role of Financial Intelligence Officer- Student placement, within the NWROCU. The successful applicant(s) must be willing to complete the National Financial Intelligence officer training program. This includes an exam and the upkeep of a continuous professional development portfolio. The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region to the threat posed by serious and organised crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and North Wales. The NWROCU also provides the vital link for local policing to access national capabilities and expertise, enabling the North West region to deliver the Government’s Serious and Organised Crime strategy and to protect communities from harm. Successful applicants working within the NWROCU will be subject to NCA Vetting Checks, MV (Management Vetting) and SC (Security Clearance) prior to taking up post. NWROCU is located in the Warrington area, close to good public transport links and the motorway network.
