JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible to:
Responsible Finance Officer
Job Purpose:
To assist the Responsible Finance Officer in the effective delivery of core Council administration services across all disciplines of the organisation.

To undertake tasks as required to support the Council’s range of events and festivals as directed
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide general administrative support to the Town Council.
Assist in the preparation of agendas for meetings of the Council and its committees.
Attend such meetings on a Monday evening as required, take minutes, and prepare them for approval.
Assist in the provision of the central point of contact for the Town Council, ensuring professional and timely response to customer enquiries on the telephone, by email and via the website.
Work at the Welcome desk on a rota basis, to ensure all visitors to the Civic Centre are dealt with in a professional and polite manner.
Carry out all usual routine office duties, including the management and maintenance of office supplies; and dispatching promptly all such notices, letters and other documents as the due transaction of business of the Council shall require.
Accurately maintain appropriate manual and digital filing systems.
Ensure that all Data Protection, Health and Safety, and Risk Management procedures relevant to the Council are followed.
Manage the Council’s diary in relation to the use and booking of meeting rooms.
Assist in the organisation of the town’s Floral Displays, through the collation of information and orders.
Assist in maintaining the Town Council’s website, ( to ensure that it is up to date and accurate.
Assist in the arrangements for all civic events and town festivities as organised by the Council, and any other functions that may be from time-to-time be organised.
Assist in the management of the Mayor’s calendar and in ensuring that responses to civic functions are sent on behalf of Councillors. To assist in the provision of hospitality, where appropriate, to ensure meetings are serviced to a high standard.
Support the activities of Redruth Youth Council, providing assistance with appropriate supervision and guidance.
Provide general finance support as required, including the payment of invoices; production of Purchase Orders; the paying of monies in to bank as required.

Act in a polite, professional, and capable manner at all times, as would be expected as an employee of the Town Council.
Undertake any other duties required by the Council consistent with the level and scope of the post.

Essential Attributes
Educational Qualifications
Minimum 5 GCSE’s (or Equivalent) including English and Maths
Skills and Knowledge
Literate and numerate with good skills
Proven track record in an administrative role and able to demonstrate administrative competency
Proven competency in Microsoft Office and other software programmes, including database creation spreadsheets etc
Exemplifies high standards of customer service across all communication channels including phone, face to face and electronically
Proven track record of servicing committees or boards and preparing Minutes
Ability to interpret information
Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
Good team player and ability to communicate with Councillors, stakeholders and the general public
Must understand and respect confidentiality and handling of sensitive information
Confident speaking in meetings
Able to prioritise and effective at time management
Ability to forward plan and ensure that deadlines are met
Able to work well unsupervised and on own initiative
Experience of handling confidential, manual and computerised information
Desirable Attributes
Understanding of Local Government practices and the role of Councillors
Procedural and practical knowledge of Local Government administration
Good understanding of Data Protection (GDPR
