Purpose of job As a Cloud Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining cloud-based data analytics solutions. Reporting to the Data Systems Team Leader, this role sits at the intersection of data engineering, cloud computing, and analytics, ensuring that data is processed, stored, and made available for actionable insights. You will also play a critical role in 3rd-line support, providing expertise to resolve complex issues related to cloud / Hybrid data systems and ensuring smooth operation across all data functions. Accountabilities Develop and implement scalable data pipelines on cloud platforms ( Azure, Fabric, Power Automate) to ensure the efficient processing, storage, and retrieval of data for analytics. Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes to streamline data flows and ensure clean, structured data for reporting and insights. Manage and optimise cloud-based data services, including data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Fabric, Azure). Implement security best practices (encryption, Purview, etc.) and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (ISO policies). Automate data workflows using cloud-native services such as Azure Data Factory, and Ms Fabric, alongside orchestration tools like cloud DPD. Continuously optimise processes for cost-efficiency and performance improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders) to understand their data needs. Mentor junior team members, offering support and guidance on best practices and data engineering techniques. Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and data analytics trends, recommending and implementing innovative solutions to enhance business performance. Provide technical expertise and 3rd-line support for troubleshooting complex data-related incidents. Proactively resolve escalated issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions. Support the broader team with advanced troubleshooting, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability. Write complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyse data from cloud-based databases and on prem data warehouses. Optimise SQL queries for performance and efficiency in cloud environments. The candidate Able to demonstrate a minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with cloud platforms. Strong background in data engineering and building cloud-based data solutions. Proficiency in SQL, Python / PySpark for writing complex queries and optimising performance in cloud data environments. Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data querying in cloud platforms. Experience working with cloud data warehouses. Strong understanding of data security principles and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR). Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while managing multiple priorities. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
