People Management • Ensuring the provision of appropriate supervision and support to members of the ward team • Managing allocated resources effectively through efficient resource allocation, skill mixes, roster management, and utilisation of equipment and authorisation of bank/agency staff. • Participating in clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues, including the management and reporting of incidents • Acting as a team leader for a group of nurses, acting as a mentor/preceptor • Deputising for the manager as and when required Communication and Relationship Skills • Providing a high level of Communication with internal and external stakeholders • Participating in discussions and debates and staff meetings offering views, ideas and opinions. • Participating in the process of positively supporting and inspiring colleagues within the service to improve standards and quality and to develop professional practice. • Communicating all relevant issues pertaining to care.
