Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician / Furniture designer to join our dynamic kitchen and joinery workshop. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, drafting and producing accurate technical drawings for bespoke kitchen and joinery projects. This position involves collaborating with interior designers and architects to create detailed drawings and will require a strong understanding of joinery manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Drawing and Design:
Develop and produce high-quality CAD drawings and designs for custom kitchen and joinery projects, ensuring precision and alignment with client specifications.
Create 2D and 3D models and visualisations to assist in project presentations and client meetings.
Develop production-ready technical drawings, including elevations, sections and assembly details.
2. Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with clients, designers and the production team to understand design requirements and translate them into accurate designs.
Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and regulations while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
3. Project Co-ordination:
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including specifications and reports.
Conduct regular reviews of designs to identify potential issues or improvements.
Maintain an organised library of CAD files and documentation for easy access by team members.
4. Material Optimisation and Accuracy:
Optimise designs for material usage and manufacturing efficiency, reducing waste and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Verify measurements, tolerances, and construction methods for all designs.
5. Quality Control and Compliance:
Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and industry regulations.
Conduct quality checks on completed designs and provide support during the manufacturing process.
Qualifications
1. Proven experience as a CAD Technician with a minimum of 3 years experience within a kitchen, bedroom, joinery or woodworking business.
2. Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with Sketchup is highly desirable including the plug in Layout.
3. Strong understanding of joinery techniques, materials and construction processes.
4. Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
5. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual tasks effectively.
6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information clearly.
7. Knowledge of CNC programming and software integration is an advantage.
8. Familiarity with sustainable materials and eco-friendly design practices is an advantage.
9. A diploma, degree or certification in CAD, furniture design or a related field is required.
