About this Role
We believe The Wisbech Academy is one of the most exciting and important career opportunities to arise in North Cambridgeshire for many years. We are therefore looking for an exceptional individual with the moral purpose, knowledge and leadership skills required for working in areas of high disadvantage and delivering a culture of achievement for young people.
We are in search of a skilled and well-qualified individual from either a Primary or Secondary background to join our small, welcoming and ever growing team at The Wisbech Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about making a positive impact on students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The successful applicant will be innovative, dynamic, and committed to outstanding achievement for all students. They will have been successful in demonstrating leadership skills, with experience in embedding ideas, leading, and working as part of a team.
At Brooke Weston Trust, provision for SEND students is a high priority and we invest in the professional development of SENCOs. In the last three years, we have worked with national experts including Gary Aubin, David Bartram, and Sally Franklin. Read more about our trust-wide approach here.
We have a Brooke Weston Trust SEND network group which meets three times a year including meetings in person and remotely. The network consists of the SENCOs in each school and offers an opportunity to learn from each other, collaborate on projects, and provide support and encouragement.
Brooke Weston Trust is part of the Whole Education SEND network, and this allows us to connect with leaders of SEND provision across the country and to take part in high-quality professional learning programmes provided by Whole Education. In 2024 all SENCOs in Brooke Weston Trust attended the Whole Education SEND conference at Warwick University.

About the school
The Wisbech Academy is a new 11-16 600-student (120 PAN) secondary school which opened for students in September 2024 to help meet growing demand for school places in Wisbech, North Cambridgeshire. The Wisbech Academy was approved to open by the Department for Education in 2021 and is the 12th school to join Brooke Weston Trust. The Trust has a close relationship with the local community and already runs the other secondary school, Thomas Clarkson Academy, and Peckover Primary School, in the town.
The school opened within the Thomas Clarkson Academy building in Phase One to provide additional capacity for 100 students in September 2024. The Phase One modular building will be built ready for September 2025 and located off of Weasenham Lane, immediately next to where the permanent new school building will be created. The new school will also be located next door to the existing Thomas Clarkson Academy, allowing the schools to share capacity and facilities to provide better opportunities for students and staff now and in the future.
Students and staff are expected to move into the new building during the 2026/2027 academic year, subject to planning, where it will grow into a 120 PAN school.
We actively welcome visits to the academy; please contact us if you would like to do this.

About Brooke Weston Trust
Our Trust was formed more than 25 years ago with a simple and clear mission - to transform educational performance in all of our communities. Our members of staff are essential to realising this vision, and a happy, motivated and supported team will deliver the best possible experiences for our young people.
We place great emphasis on creating a supportive and collaborative working environment in all our schools, where all staff can share best practice through our colleague networks. Brooke Weston staff get access to first-class professional development through our Ambition Hub, which is also home to the Northamptonshire Teaching School.
