HGV Reserve Driver Trainer
Experienced ADR Driver required to ensure safe and prompt delivery of Fuel across multiple depots within the Northwest region, including different shifts and able to drive both Class 1 and 2. Experience of operating in fuels previously and performed tanker work. You’ll be CPC Qualified, and digital tachograph card and hold a Class 1 Driving License, ADR Tanks 3 and PDP.
During quieter periods, pickup driver training responsibilities across multiple depots within the Northwest region.
The role
* Plan and review new driver training covering site introduction, routes, safe systems of work, Tacho procedures, defect reporting and walk round checks
* Perform annual in cab driver assessments
* Retrain underperforming drivers such as those with poor anticipation and/or high levels of harsh braking
* Retrain and assess drivers following RTIs
* Deliver DVC Training and Slow Manoeuvring Course as directed
* Assist with the administration of RTI investigations and retraining
* Carries out annual refresher training for Tachographs, Defect reporting and walk round checks.
* Carries out specific Tacho training with drivers who have infringed as agreed with site
* Carries out safe systems training with drivers and loaders to include loading, deliveries, refuelling
* Assists the Department in carrying out new reviews and reports back on any issues
* In conjunction with site management identifies training & development needs within agreed transport areas and agrees action plan.
* Ensure all training is recorded, the correct process is followed, and the correct documentation is used at all times
* Deliver practical and theoretical instruction to candidates on required vehicle
* Completing all relevant course and training documents
* Delivery of LGV driving courses to DVSA test standard
* To ensure by use of appropriate teaching methods that participants have a sound knowledge of the ‘Highway Code’
* Complete relevant training paperwork and record accurate information
* Support and guide learners so they can reflect on their learning
* To promote Safeguarding and Health and Safety to staff.
Skills & Qualifications
* You’ll have previous experience as an HGV Driver Trainer, with Assessment Related qualifications i.e. QTS, CET, DET, AET, or membership of a recognised trainer register (RADAT, RHA, NRI), or any other recognised driver training qualification
* You’ll be CPC Qualified, and digital tachograph card and hold a full UK HGV C+E Driving License
* You’ll be available to travel and stay overnight as required to deliver the Company program in both classroom and field-based environments
* You’ll keep up to date with developments in training i.e., reading relevant journals, going to meetings, and attending relevant courses
* Confident in face to face and remote delivery
* Good working knowledge of current legislation
* Good interpersonal skills and good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work flexibly
* Excellent standard of driver performance.
* Proficient using Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
* Experience of producing clear, accurate and concise written reports.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively.
* Strong understanding of current transport legislation and EU/WTD Regulations.
